Burnett & Williams is pleased to announce the recipient of our August Ampersand Award for Community Excellence: Women Giving Back, a nonprofit organization located in Sterling that is dedicated to providing free clothing for at-risk women and children in Northern Virginia.
Founded in 2007, WGB helps more than 7,000 vulnerable women and young people build their confidence and self-esteem by providing them with high-quality professional and casual clothing and accessories.
Women Giving Back operates out of a 13,000-square-foot facility, where volunteers help women who have been referred by one of WGB’s more than 200 referral-agency partners find just the right clothing for their needs. WGB offers four dedicated shop days a month – complete with free childcare and free breakfast – when women and their children can shop in a boutique-like atmosphere for up to 50 items of clothing, 4 pairs of shoes, 1 purse, 1 coat, and 2 pieces of jewelry each. WGB also offers private shopping days for groups, or volunteers will put together Bags-To-Go for anyone who can’t come to the boutique in person.
Women Giving Back believes that when women are able to find and keep jobs, women, families, and communities are all lifted up as a result, and that when children have appropriate, well-fitting clothing to wear to school, learning and fitting in is made much easier.
We at Burnett & Williams applaud the great work of Women Giving Back, a wonderful organization that is contributing significantly to the well-being and vibrancy of our shared community here in Northern Virginia!
