Virginia’s DMV is updating the ways you can do business with them.
Of the many adjustments we’ve had to make in the name of Covid safety, changes at the Virginia DMV may not have been the most disruptive, but they did take a little getting used to. Instead of the time-honored tradition of being able to walk into your closest DMV office at any time, Virginians have had to make appointments whenever they needed to renew a driver’s license or register a new vehicle. Those appointments were often hard to come by, so it will be a relief for some to know that starting October 5th, on any Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday you can walk into any of the 75 DMV locations statewide without an appointment. And if you liked the Covid-era appointment-only setup, the good news is that Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays will still be reserved for folks who have used the DMV’s online portal to book a time slot to get their DMV business done.

Whether you book online or show up without an appointment, we’re wishing you short lines whenever you next visit your local DMV office!
