We like to go small for Thanksgiving, especially in terms of our shopping. One of the things we are grateful for this time of year is all of the local businesses in our service communities that help us do our job well, all year round.
This weekend, we encourage you to shop first at the locally-owned stores that line our main streets and shopping plazas. When you do, your dollar is more likely to get recycled in the community.
For small business Saturday, there are promotions going on all around the Commonwealth of Virginia. In Reston, we noticed that some of the new pop-up stores at the Wiehle-Reston Metro Station near our office are having promotions, including Scrawl Books, which is having a “petite grand opening” from 10 -4.
A number of shops near our office in downtown Leesburg will be hopping all weekend.
In downtown Richmond, dozens of locally owned RVA shops will be running specials, including Rostov’s Coffee & Tea near our office in the Fan District.
If you want to shop local but are not sure how to find the locally owned businesses in your neighborhood, you can do a search here.
Happy Thanksgiving! And happy hunting if you choose to start chasing bargains over the weekend.
