Burnett & Williams congratulates Matt Bass on his recent appointment to the Clarke County Board of Supervisors.
All of us at Burnett & Williams want to congratulate our colleague Matthew Bass on his recent appointment to the Clarke County Board of Supervisors. He will fill the Berryville District seat recently vacated by Mary Daniel, who stepped down this spring after Virginia’s General Assembly selected her to serve as a General District Court judge for the 26th Judicial District. Four candidates were interviewed for the temporary appointment, and the board voted unanimously to appoint Matt, who will serve until a special election to permanently fill the seat is held on November 3rd.
Matt, who is a Berryville native and lives there with his wife and two young children, has been a lawyer here at Burnett & Williams since 2017. He is deeply committed to his community, and has served on the Berryville Area Development Authority since 2016. He also earned planning commissioner certification through the Virginia Association of Counties.
In Matt’s words, “I have deep community ties, and my goal is to protect and nurture the county and the town. I want to preserve the natural beauty and advance the tremendous potential of this town and county so my children will share my experience of growing up in such a special place.”
We wish Matt luck as he prepares to participate in his first Clarke County Board of Supervisors meeting on May 19th!
