Loudoun lawyers bid farewell to retiring Judge Thomas D. Horne

Loudoun lawyers bid farewell to retiring Judge Thomas D. Horne

The Loudoun Bar Association gathered at the Courthouse on June 5th to honor Judge Thomas D. Horne. At the time of his retirement at age 70 last year, Judge Horne was the longest sitting active judge in Virginia. He first took the bench in 1982, after serving as Commonwealth’s Attorney for Loudoun County. In addition to the unveiling of a formal portrait, which will hang in the Courthouse, a presentation of a unanimous Resolution of the Virginia General Assembly was made by Senator Jennifer Wexton and Delegate Randy Minchew. In anticipation of the unveiling ceremony, several senior attorneys  commissioned a caricature depicting Judge Horne and a few memorable events from his long service to the community.

The framed caricature, shown here being presented by Peter Burnett, was created by Richmond attorney and artist, Michael Goodman.
