AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a program offered at JEB Stuart High School in Falls Church, Virginia to provide additional guidance and support for students to go to college.  One of the main components of this program is enabling students to make campus visits so they can see first-hand what college is like and gain in their belief that the goal of attending college is achievable.

AVID works with many low-income families who lack the ability to have their children visit colleges on their own.  When they are applying to colleges, AVID helps them find the best college at the most affordable price, and helps them afford to go on college trips outside the metropolitan DC area. The JEB Stuart High School’s International Baccalaureate (IB) and AVID programs prepare the students to attend our nation’s best colleges.  By exposing them to these colleges, AVID wants to expand their horizons and help them see the opportunities available for them to get a great, affordable college education.

Burnett & Williams is proud to have participated in this program to support future scholars and leaders, helping a group of students go on a New England tour to visit Amherst, Wellesley, Boston College, Smith, Brandeis, Bentley, and Brown.
