Our Founding Town Honors Peter Burnett for His Virginia Lawyers Hall of Fame Induction

We’re not the only ones excited about Peter’s recent induction into the Virginia Lawyer’s Hall of Fame. Leesburg’s Town Council honored the occasion with a proclamation that marked not only his induction, but also his lifetime of contributions in Leesburg, Loudoun County, and throughout the Commonwealth.
As the Loudoun Times-Mirror reporter Elizabeth Stinnette noted in her coverage, Peter was one of the first Virginia attorneys to devote his practice entirely to personal injury law, helping people who have suffered catastrophic injuries through the negligence of others.

Starting years ago with a single office in downtown Leesburg, Burnett & Williams has since expanded to 7 offices around the state, from Winchester in the northwest to Orange in the Piedmont to Hopewell and Midlothian in the Richmond area. Under Peter’s leadership, and along with Jim Williams, the firm has helped thousands of clients recover damages after they were harmed, winning record verdicts along the way in cases that range from auto and truck crashes to traumatic brain injuries to wrongful death.
Reflecting on his work, Peter said afterward, “Our biggest contribution as Virginia lawyers has been worrying every day about how to help clients who’ve been injured by others, especially those who’ve had the whole trajectory of their lives changed. We make sure the law works for them the way it’s supposed to, and that they don’t get taken advantage of by insurance companies.”
In addition to Peter’s accomplishments as one of Virginia’s top personal injury attorneys, the Council recognized his decades of service in both the local community and at the state level, including leadership positions for the Virginia State Bar, Loudoun County courts, and even the Virginia Horse Racing Commission.
